If you’re wondering about ideas to teach about family or family member vocabulary in your online language classes, this post is for you! It’s not an exhaustive list, of course, but there are several tried and true activities you can use when teaching language online, and they can generally be adapted for any language, and for one-on-one lessons, pairs, or groups.

I usually invent my own stories, and I use Canva to illustrate them. I highly recommend Canva Pro, they have a fantastic selection of images, graphics, and templates. Sometimes I’ll create characters in StoryboardThat (like the ones shown in this pic), and then import them into Canva.

Check out the website AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com for some, well, awkward and hilarious family photos you can use for discussions!
I made this presentation with Canva (of course), and used Nakdan to add the nikkud (Hebrew vowels). Obviously you can adjust for whatever language you teach!
