Hebrew Transliteration Notes aka helping you pronounce Hebrew correctly.
- / a / makes the “ah” sound, as in father. Whenever you see the letter a, pronounce it as “ah.”
- / e / makes the “eh” sound, as in bed. Whenever you see the letter e, pronounce it as “eh.”
- / ei / makes the “ei” sound, as in weigh. Whenever you see the letters ei, pronounce them as “ei.”
- / e’ / makes a very short “eh” sound.
- / i / makes the “ee” sound, as in bee. Whenever you see the letter i, pronounce it as “ee.”
- / o / makes the “oh” sound, as in go. Whenever you see the letter o, pronounce it as “oh.”
- / u / makes the “oo” sound, as in zoo. Whenever you see the letter u, pronounce it as “oo.”
- / ch / makes a guttural “ch” sound, as in Bach; it is NOT the English ch sound, as in chair.
